Dr. Robert Thurman is the author of several books on Buddhism and Tibet, including Why the Dalai Lama Matters and he is the founder of the Tibet House, a non-profit dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan culture, located in New York City. Well-known as a leading figure in terms of the transmission of Buddhist culture and ideas to the United States, Robert Thurman is a professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist studies at Columbia University, co-founder along with Richard Gere, of the Tibet House, and yes, he is Uma Thurman’s dad.
